Cyber psychologist Cybersecurity Awareness Specialist
David Moepeng is a qualified Cyber psychologist working as an Online Safety/Cybersecurity Awareness Specialist and Trainer across Africa. He specialises in educating internet users about online safety risks that impact on their mental health(psychological) and social wellbeing. Moepeng is the Founder and Programme Director of Cybersmart Botswana. He is also Lead Coordinator of the African Cybersmart Network, a Pretoria based NGO that works to promote online safety in Africa through a network of organisations running online safety campaigns around the continent.
He is dedicated to promoting online safety education through awareness campaigns and informative presentations delivered to communities, particularly the youth, students, parents and professionals.
He is also a Director and Board Member of Children of the Digital Age South Africa, a Johannesburg based non-profit organisation that promote online safety in schools through presentations to learners, teachers and parents.
Moepeng travels around Africa, and the world, delivering presentations at international conferences. This includes in Botswana, South Africa (Sophia Town, University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University), Kenya, Mauritius, Ireland, Switzerland and Belgium, among many. He is also a regular news commentator on online safety issues.
He is a qualified and professional Trainer of Trainers on Cybersecurity for Non-IT Professionals,Teachers, Journalists and Mental Health Professionals on supporting victims of cyber trauma.
Moepeng obtained a Masters in Cyber psychology from Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom. He is a member of an international independent Network of African and Latin American NGOs and think thanks, the CCC – Center for Cooperation in Cyberspace, participates in the UN Open Ended Group on Cybercrime and the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise.
