Nqobile Mahlangu is a dynamic Information Security Professional and Advisory Board Member with multiple years of experience in information security, risk management, and governance within leading financial institutions. She holds a Master’s in Management in Digital Business from the University of the Witwatersrand, where her research focused on strategies to mitigate ransomware-related cyber-attacks in South African financial institutions. Her academic credentials are further supported by a Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Business Management, a BA Honours in Information Science, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science.
Nqobile is certified as a Check Point Security Administrator (R75) and holds COBIT 5 certification. She is currently preparing to write the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) exam, further strengthening her expertise in the field.
Nqobile’s career is marked by her ability to provide strategic guidance to executive leadership, drive the implementation of robust security frameworks, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. She has a proven track record in developing and embedding security policies, managing audit processes, and presenting comprehensive reports to executives, boards, and regulatory bodies. A passionate advocate for talent development and diversity in technology, Nqobile has designed and led high-impact graduate and internship programmes, and played a pivotal role in talent management and capability building at Absa. She currently serves as an Advisory Board Member and Non-Executive Director at the Women’s Empowerment Network of South Africa (WENOSA), where she provides governance, strategic oversight, and stakeholder engagement.
Nqobile is also a dynamic public speaker, having delivered keynote addresses and participated in panels at major industry events such as the ISF Africa Conference, Africa Tech Festival, SA Internet Governance Forum, SAIGA National Conference, and more.
Demonstrating her commitment to empowering the next generation, Nqobile recently launched the “Mentoring Circles” programme, where she mentors young girls in STEM to help them advance their careers and break barriers in the industry.
